Russia, St. Petersburg, June 19, 2011, 1.45 AM

Each year in June all graduates of Russia celebrate the end of school. This tradition is most colorfully and spectacularly celebrated in St. Petersburg where a massive multimedia-pyrotechnic performance with a ship with scarlet sails is prepared on the Neva river. It is held during one of the shortest nights in June, starting at 1.30 AM and lasting about half an hour. The event is called Scarler Sails Night.

This year a Swedish brig 'Tre Kronor' ('Three Crowns') took part in this performance. About 10 000 pyrotechnic shells were used for the celebration.
