Saint Petersburg, January 27, 2009, 21:10, Fireworks over the Neva river to celebrate 65-year-anniversary of the end of Leningrad Siege (Blockade) in the World War II. (Leningrad is the old name of Saint Petersburg) The blockade lasted 871 days (from September 8 of 1941 till January 27 of 1944). Over 1 million of citizens died. People had only 250g of bread to eat a day, many people even lesser. The photo itself may seem beautiful to you but we must never forget those tragic events.
